One of my favorite Homemade Gourmet products is the Strawberry Bread Mix.  It is so quick and easy to make - and oh so yummy! I just made these for breakfast for Sunday school tomorrow!

To the HG Strawberry Bread mix, you add 2 eggs, 3/4 cup oil, and 10oz sliced frozen strawberries (thawed).  Mix well - and pour into a loaf pan, muffin pan, or mini-muffin pans.  Bake at 350.  Time depends on what pan you use.  Yummy, moist goodness!

Open House vendors

I mentioned earlier about the Open House I'll be participating in tomorrow.  But I wanted to tell you a little about the other vendors that will be there.

  • Ashley - Two Sister's Originals: will have little boy ties, dresses up to 5T, blankets, burp rags, beanies, and so much more.  You don't want to miss her blog.  She is creative and amazing at what she does! She made belts for Will since I can't keep pants on his skinny little tush!
  • Lexi - Alexia Jean Designs: she has several dress styles, totes, bibs and burp rags, hairbows, and so much more.  She is so very talented! She helped me with making the bedding for Luke.  Check out her blog to see all that she does! You will not be disappointed!
  • Angela - Puddles and Bugs: the most adorable baby shoes for boys and girls.  She's also got appliqued onesies that coordinate with the shoes.  You need a special baby gift for someone ... this is a one of a kind must-have! Visit her blog to see some samples.
  • Shelly - makes the cutest little tutu bow holders! If you have a little girl, you need one of these for all her cute little bows! Shelly also designs custom birthday invitations, baby announcements, etc.  Come check out some samples and get her to custom design your next invite or announcement!
  • Kathryn - Bitter Berry Boutique - makes super sweet baby gifts.  She's got dresses, bows, burp cloths, bibs, and so much more.  Being a mommy to a sweet little girl, she knows girly!  She's also got some Christmas things - you don't want to miss this!

Crib bedding

Well, I did it! I made my first crib bedding! A HUGE shout out and thanks to Lexi of Alexia Jean Designs.  I couldn't have done it without her.  She helped me pick out and order my fabric.  She came over late one night to help me measure and start cutting.  She answered my crazy questions on texts, calls, and emails.  Thanks girl! I truly appreciate you, your friendship, and your talent! I also have to give HUGE props to my amazing husband! Since I got the fabric in about 2 weeks ago ... I've wanted to do little else than work on this bedding.  He has been so amazing to let me work on it.  He even helped me cut and pin and hold fabric! He listened to me fuss when I couldn't figure it out and he encouraged me when I didn't think I could do it! Thanks Cameron! You are the best! I love you!

I really enjoyed making the bedding for Luke's crib.  When I started sewing last year, I said I would make the bedding for our next baby ... then when it got here - I was nervous.  But, it's done and I'm pretty excited about it!

Enough talky-talky ... here are the pictures: (just ignore the mattress ... I didn't get to put a sheet on it, it's in Will's room and he's asleep).

The bumper is made with an olive corduroy and giraffe print on the outside.

On the inside of the bumper is an animal print minky. I LOVE it.  It's so soft (but a devil to sew).

I had orignially planned on making tabs (snap or velcro) but that about did me in, so after talking to Lexi, I decided it would be best to go ahead and make the ties.

The skirt is made with a gold fabric with brown dots and red cotton canvas.

The valance is made to match the bed skirt, but I added a pleat (thanks Lexi)!  We already had the red stripe on the wall from when Will used the nursery.  They have a lot of the same colors.

My next project is going to be a blanket and maybe a pillow or two.  But, I feel like after that bumper, that will be easy to do.  It wasn't that the bumper was hard - it was just challenging with all the different textures of fabric that stretched differently.

I still need to do a little decorating.  I'm going to order some pictures from Lane.  He's got some incredible pictures of African animals! Anyway - what do you think?

Gather 'Round the Dinner Table

Family Day: A Day to Eat Dinner with Your Family™ is Sept. 27 this year.

National Center on Addictions and Substance Abuse (CASA) started this national day years ago after studies they conducted proved the more families eat dinner together, the less likely the children are to smoke, drink or use drugs.

Make a plan to eat with your own family on Sept. 27

To help make dinner time easier, Homemade Gourmet is offering a great sale in September on its casseroles – 15% off. From side dishes, to entrees, desserts and breakfast options, a casserole is typically quick to prepare and then you can leave the kitchen while it bakes in the oven. Let the kids talk about their day at school and when they start asking “what smells so good?” you will know dinner is ready! They can also be made ahead and frozen for a quick trip from freezer to oven when your day is extra busy.

Get Panko Parmesan Casserole Mix, Creamy Italian Casserole Mix, Cornbread Casserole Mix and Shepherd’s Pie Casserole Mix (all listed on bottom of Page 17 of the Fall/Winter Product Catalog) for only $5.74 retail Sept. 1-30, 2010.

Sewing

A couple of weekends ago, I was able to participate in a local craft fair with some of my extremely talented friends! As most of you know I started sewing about a year ago and have fallen in love with it! It is my newest and most favorite hobby right now. These are some of the things that I made for the craft fair.
In this picture are some of the hooded towels, purses for young girls, and you can see an edge of an apron hanging up on the left. Also in this picture are shoes made by the talented Angela Ables of Puddles and Bugs.
This is one of the draw string jewelry bags! I LOVE these! One of my friends had one about a year ago, then after my grandmother passed away - I found one that belonged to her. I took that and made a pattern. I use hers every time I go somewhere! It keeps all my jewelry separated.
Large hooded towels (for up to children 7 years)
Purses for young girls
I'm having a blast! I have been busy sewing and am looking forward to doing lots more!

July JAM

J - Just
A - Add
M - Meat

I provide everything you need to make 5 delicious meals you can put in your freezer, then take out whenever you need them. Each one can either be baked or slow-cooked, and most can even be grilled. I have loved doing this because I am saving money on my grocery bill, saving time planning our meals, and I'm not spending a lot of time fixing and cleaning for supper.

Now, I love to cook - but with a 18-month old, that is a little hard sometimes. So, this has been wonderful for me on days when I don't feel like cooking.

It's J.A.M time again. I'm a little late in sending this out, please forgive me! This month, we will have the JAM at the beginning of the month - on Tuesday, July 6 at 7:00.

The meals this time are:
- Cilantro Citrus Pineapple Chicken
- Chicken Enchilada Marinated Chicken
- Cheesy Mexican Chicken
- Chipotle Chicken and Noodles
- Soft Fajita Tacos

As always, let me know which meals you would like, and how many of each. Please also let me know if you are coming or if you would like me to deliver them. Each meal calls for 1.5 lbs of meat.
